DIVERSE EXPERIENCE MATTERS!
Harley has over 21 years of experience as a practicing attorney across criminal law, both prosecutorial and defense, as well as experience in family law and other civil matters. He also has actual experience on the bench, primarily in Glades County, as well as in Hendry and Lee Counties, as a Traffic Hearing Officer, handling many thousands of cases over multiple years. Such a broad range of experience is critical when taking a position on the bench.
In 2002, after graduating from law school, Harley became a prosecutor, first serving Lee and then Glades County, becoming Glades County's first full-time prosecutor, handling the prosecution of cases ranging from low-level misdemeanors and juvenile cases to the highest level felonies. After leaving the State Attorney's Office, Harley went into private practice where he handled primarily criminal defense and family law cases, along with other civil matters. He has tried multiple Capital Felonies, including in Glades County, along with other criminal, family law and other civil cases of varying severity, in many different counties in the state of Florida. Overall, Harley has practiced in over 35 counties and appeared in front of a countless number of judges across the state. This experience has allowed Harley to observe the behavior of judges from all over, while learning what he wishes to emulate, and what he wishes to avoid, as a potential judge.
Currrently he is the Managing Attorney of a statewide law firm.

Integrity. Family. Get to know Harley. Harley is the proud husband of Teresa and father of Harley Cole and Sophia Marie. As a graduate of the University of Florida for both his undergraduate and law degrees, he is very loyal to his Florida Gators!
His profound interest in law and service to his community run deep through his family roots. His mother, Maria, was an attorney and his father, Harley John, was a veteran of the US Air Force.
